Carlos Xirau, former managing director of Corporate and Public Sector and Structuring at Citi, is the new CEO of Brazilian crypto company Uniera. He spent 25 years working with structured operations and derivatives in 24 countries. His experience with treasury, risk management and compliance, along with the strong networking that he has been cultivating for two decades, will be vital to Uniera.
Together with Gustavo Albanesi (CSO) and Caio Villa (CIO), Xirau intends to unite the traditional financial market with what he believes is the future of technology. “The three of us are complementary. I arrive with my experience and connections in the traditional market and my partners have expertise in digital assets that are still quite unknown even for those who have been working with other financial products for years,” says Xirau.
More robustness to the platform and start structured operations for institutional investors in Brazil and abroad are some of his missions. Offering reliability and a secure environment for trading cryptocurrencies in Brazil are also among Uniera’s priorities.
“Crypto assets are the future of the financial market and technology. This is an asset class that can no longer be ignored by large investors. Despite being a very complex and challenging ecosystem, it is possible to obtain great investment opportunities”, says Xirau. “Uniera wants to grow and develop in this market, we are preparing financial products and regulated investment options for our clients.”
Uniera International will soon announce the launch of a digital assets investment fund, led by its international manager. The product, available for qualified investors, will seek opportunities in early-stage startups in the crypto and blockchain markets – and of course, with high potential for long-term appreciation.
“We are happy with the arrival of Xirau. It represents a great step and a new phase for Uniera. He is a relevant executive in the financial market, with a lot of expertise and credibility”, says Albanesi. “Increasingly, the company organizes itself to develop and structure more efficient and robust operations for institutional investors.”
